Thrush Hermit - From the Back of the Film
Thrush Hermit was a really great Canadian alt band from the 1990s with Joel Plaskett. Ignore Plasketts poor fashion and focus on rocking out
Definitely the best of fashion. That shirt is mine all mine.

Joel Plaskett, “Soundtrack of the Night,” Ashtray Rock
I laid some Plaskett on a dude at work this week. He was asking for it. When I was showing off my credit in the Thrush Hermit box set (yeah, I’m like that), we ended up looking up ThrushHermit.com, which redirects to Wikipedia, which specifies the band members. “Joel Plaskett?” he asked. “Like ‘Television Set’ Joel Plaskett?” I called his bluff, he pulled out his iPod, and there it was. Guy’s a big Duchovny fan (almost creepily so) so I should have guessed he’d seen his share of “TV Set,” which features the song. Still, an unexpected delight. And my opportunity to force him to listen to way more Joel.
Anyway, because I pulled some songs for him to sample, I’ve been Joel-ing it up at work. I keep coming back to this song, and in particular, the line: “Don’t resist it, you said, we’re getting older.” No kidding. I mean, it’s the spectacular delivery as much as the sentiment, but true true true.
Still getting that tattoo, though. To mark 34.5. Call it a midlife crisis - though it would suck to not make it to 70.

Joel Plaskett, “All the Way Down the Line,” Three
Man, I already miss Thrush Hermit. Too much. So I’m taking a break, though the break does include Joel Plaskett - Emergency and solo - Camouflage Nights, Drug Dog, etc. (I can’t go cold turkey!)
Which brings us to Joel’s “All the Way Down the Line,” my new wedding song. Sigh.
It just occurred to me to check Flickr to see if there were any TH reunion photos up yet. Oh holy night. THIS is exactly what Joel Plaskett had on the first time I saw them. PS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!
